The RETS Compliance Working Group met following the full RETS workgroup meeting on February 20, 2003. The objective was to decide working group deliverables and initiate the first steps.
1. The current plan is to work on a test protocol and test suite for servers, with some parallel work to go on for client testing. The issue in client testing is to make sure to test compliance, not functionality: if a client doesn't need to use particular aspects of RETS -- for example, metadata -- for its function, then not exercising those aspects doesn't constitute a compliance error.
2. Paul Stusiak will run the test suite on his server and provide feedback on the process, in order to determine how best to use the compliance tester.
3. Avantia will look at improving the user interface for the test suite, with the intent of making it easy to run a group of tests to get a pass/fail indication and a list of capabilities.
4. Avantia will also post an updated tester that takes care of some of the problems found during the plugfest.
5. Bruce Toback will work on a test protocol for clients.
The group will meet in a conference call on Wednesday, February 26 to discuss the results of the items above. |
